Born 1980 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Linda Martinello is a visual artist having recently completed an MFA at the University of Waterloo, completed Post Graduate Advanced Visual Studies Certificate with OCAD University in Florence, Italy and received an Honours BA from the University of Toronto. She has lived, worked and studied in Italy, Mexico and New York. Further travels to Turkey, Greece and most recently the American Southwest have provided her with the visual material to create extensive series of works on Mylar.
Recent and upcoming exhibitions include University of Waterloo Art Gallery in Waterloo, Gallery Page and Strange in Halifax, p|m Gallery in Toronto and Galerie BAC in Montreal. Her work is located in prominent public, private and corporate art collections including the The Dononvan Collection, BMO Financial Group, Encana, TD Bank Financial Group, TELUS, Torys, among other institutions. She is the recipient of several research grants and awards including SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Research Scholarship, University of Waterloo President’s Graduate Scholarship, the Shantz Fellowship Award, Toronto Arts Council Grant and the Ontario Arts Council Grant. Martinello is currently based in Toronto and in addition to her studio practice; she is Sessional Faculty at OCAD University and the University of Waterloo, teaching drawing and painting.
